- Which factions are currently in the mod?
As of Version 8.0, the mod contains Gondor, Isengard, Mordor, Misty Mountains, Lothlórien, Erebor, Rohan, Rivendell, Dol Guldur, Woodland Realm and Haradwaith - What are the planned factions for the mod?
No further factions are planned for Age of the Ring. - Will you add Angmar and/or Arnor?
Yes. Angmar and Arthedain have been added to 8.0 as Adventure factions. You can use the AotR 8.0 Options file included with the release to generate maps with these Adventure factions. - Will you add a Rhûn faction?
Yes. Rhûn has also been added to 8.0 as an Adventure faction. - Would you consider adding more/different factions than the ones you have planned?
No. We have weighed our selection carefully and will not change it. - When will the mod be released?
The final version of Age of the Ring is released. It can be found in our Files section. - Can this mod be installed alongside Edain?
Yes. - Why did you base this off of 2.02?
Because 2.02 comes with no-cd functionality. - What has this mod changed for Create-A-Hero?
We've added a several new classes: Ranger of the North, Mountain-orc, and Mound-dweller, as well as updated art for Men of the West and Dwarf heroes. Beyond this, we will make no more changes. - I’m getting an error/crash/problem!
Take a look at our common issues and installation guide or join our Discord and ask in the Support channel. - Is there a campaign?
There is currently a campaign spanning the story of the Fellowship of the Ring and The Two Towers. The BFME 2 Good and Evil Campaigns have also been remade for Age of the Ring. These are available in the War of the Ring menu as Campaign: War in the North and Campaign: Dominion of Sauron. - Will you add a Return of the King campaign?
Yes, the Return of the King campaign is currently in development. - Will you add a Hobbit campaign?
No. The Battle of Azanulbizar can be played, but we have no plans to continue the story of The Hobbit due to a lack of scripters and interest. - I have a suggestion for your mod, where can I post it?
Generally we only respond to suggestions made in our community forums:
Forums.revora.net - Will you eventually add in BFME1 style gameplay?
Fortress maps and Adventure: Ithilien contain build plots but otherwise we’ll be keeping the free-build style. - I want to play the mod but I don’t have BFME2 or RotWK installed.
We provide clean versions of each game (them being abandonware) plus installation instructions here:
Forums.revora.net - How do I apply to be a tester?
Since Age of the Ring is now complete, we are no longer looking for beta testers. - I’m a modder and I’d like to join your team
Message us on ModDB, The3rdAge community forums, or Discord. - Do you have a Discord?
Yep. - Will you add walls to Mordor?
No. - Is War of the Ring playable?
Yes, and it is much improved. - Why is Frodo a Ring Hero for Good factions?
Because we like our Tolkien lore. The power of the Ring cannot be used to do good. 'We cannot wield it, none of us can', 'I would use this Ring from a desire to do good, but through me, it would wield a power too great and terrible to imagine', 'You would have a queen! Not dark, but treacherous as the sea! All will love me and despair!', etc. The Ring was entrusted to Frodo, a hobbit who had shown to be resilient to its corruption, and the representatives of the Free Peoples placed their hopes in the quest for its destruction. Therefore Frodo (or Bilbo for Woodland Realm and for Oakenshield era Erebor) carries the Ring, and in doing so inspire your units to amazing heights of power. If you find them to be weak, we suggest reading their power descriptions to use them to their full potential. - Why does my game experience lag/crashes/Out of Memory/etc. while playing the mod? What do?
RotWK is an old game built on an engine that is not able to make use of all the benefits of a modern system, such as multiple cores. Such issues are most likely to occur when a high number of units or effects are present on the screen simultaneously. In order to limit this, try lowering your shadow or effects settings. If you're playing games with enormous armies or play games for hours on end, the game will eventually reach its memory limit and crash. 2.02 v9 includes the 4GB patch as part of its installation, which significantly reduces the frequency of out of memory crashes, however they are still possible. We are well aware of this issue. - Will you add recruitable Goat Riders to Erebor?
Not to regular Erebor, but they are recruitable units in Adventure: Durin's Folk and Adventure: Battle of the Five Armies. - Why is X not Y?
Because we like X to be X.
